
Dr. Emilia Jumbe Marsden
BScHb, MBChB, MMed (Paeds)
Dr Marsden graduated from the University of Zambia, School of Medicine and worked at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for 14 years prior to joining Pendleton Children’s Clinic full time in 2011. She gained experience in various disciplines of Paediatrics and Child Health at UTH, culminating in 2 years spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Neurology Clinic. Dr Marsden’s area of interest lies in Asthma and Allergies whence she provides interpretation of Lung Function and Allergy testing within the Practice. She received training in this field at the Pulmonary Clinic of UMASS Medical in America and Hospital Clinic, Spain. She is certified in Advanced Paediatric Life Support.
Since joining Pendleton, she has worked in management and is the current Managing Director, ensuring the vision and strategic plan of the Practice is actualised. Additionally, she is the Senior Primary Care Paediatrician managing children with various conditions ranging from allergic rhinitis, eczema, asthma, diabetes, ADHD, Autism and Sickle Cell Disease. She keeps current with Evidence Based Medicine by attending and presenting at both local and international conferences. She is a member of the Zambian Paediatrics Association, American Academy of Paediatrics, Zambia Medical Association, Zambia Association of Private Hospitals and the European Respiratory Society.

Dr Nyaxewo Mwaanza
BSc HB, MBChB, MMed (Paeds), Msc. Tropical Paediatrics
Dr. Nyaxewo Mwaanza is a Paediatrician with over 15 years of clinical experience, having initially trained and worked at the University Teaching Hospital where she also obtained her Specialist training, Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health. Dr. Mwaanza undertook further postgraduate training and has obtained a second Masters Degree in Tropical Paediatrics from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in the United Kingdom.
She has other specialist training in child growth monitoring and infant and young child feeding. She is also trained and has vast experience in Paediatric HIV and TB management. She spent several years working on Infectious Diseases and Neonatal intensive Care.

Dr Kanta Chandwe
BScHb, MBChB, MMed (paeds)
Dr Kanta Chandwe is a graduate of the University of Zambia School of Medicine where he obtained his Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health as well as his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery. He has worked in the public service for a number of years and also served as a lecturer, training undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
Dr Chandwe’s clinical and research work focuses on gastrointestinal (GI) and nutrition related disorders in children. This was also the focus area for his Fogarty Global Health fellowship. He is an experienced endoscopist performing diagnostic, therapeutic and research endoscopies in children with various GI disorders. Some of his published, peer reviewed work can be found here. Dr Chandwe is passionate about delivering evidence-based paediatric care and helping families have the best health outcomes for their children.

Pauline Sibon’gile Zulu
DIP Registered Nursing, DIP NeuroTech
Pauline graduated from Chipata School of Nursing with an Enrolled Nursing Certificate in 1996 and her first posting was at Senanga District Hospital in Western Province. She later moved to Kafue District, where she gained vast experience in general nursing through rotations at Kafue Estates, Nangongwe and Railway Town clinics. She joined Pendleton Children’s Clinic in 2009 and later upgraded her diploma to Registered Nurse at Chreso University in 2020. As Pendleton added Electroencephalography (EEG) services at the Practice, Pauline further pursued a diploma as an EEG technician from the Neuro EEG institute of Wisconsin.
As part of her continuous career development, she is certified in Infant and Child Nutrition, Counselling, Child Growth Assessment, Expanded Programme for Immunisations (EPI) Country Mid-Level Management, Lung Function Testing (Spirometry) and Asthma Care. She has also attained Basic Life Support (BLS) training with the Society of Anaesthetists of Zambia. Pauline is passionate about working with children and enjoys counselling and advising parents on successful breastfeeding, growth monitoring and vaccinations.

Caroline Kangwa
DIP Registered Nursing
Caroline is a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse. She graduated from Ndola school of nursing and midwifery in 2020 with a diploma in Registered Nursing. She has also attained Basic Life Support (BLS) training with the Society of Anaesthetists of Zambia. She joined Pendleton Children’s Clinic initially as a Locum Nurse but then became a full-time team member in September 2023. In her practice at Pendleton, she has gained so much knowledge on triaging and handing emergencies, growth monitoring and vaccinations, creating a good nurse-patient and nurse-parent relationship, and child health and child advocacy. She is passionate about working with children. In her free time, she enjoys making new friends and shopping.

Christine Fungai Daka
DIP Registered Nurse / Midfwife
Christine have been with Pendleton Children’s Clinic since 2021. She graduated with an advanced diploma in Nursing and midwifery from Lusaka Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in 2019. During her training, she gained vast experience in providing quality holistic nursing care to clients, critically ill patients, new-born babies and their families. She performed nursing procedures and advised families and clients on making informed decisions regarding their health. She also gave guidance on how to take care of themselves and their loved ones after hospital stay. She has obtained Basic Life Support training with the Society of Anaesthetists of Zambia. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family.

Andrew Mujajati
Dip Pharm Tech
Andrew joined Pendleton Family Practice in August 2011 as a full-time Pharmacy Technologist, upon graduating from Evelyn Hone College in February of the same year. He is fully registered with the Health Professions council of Zambia and holds a Diploma in Pharmacy Technology. He takes every opportunity to continue his professional development and has a Certificate of Competence to manage the National Anti-Retroviral Logistics System. Additionally, he has attended several seminars and presentations which help him to keep up to date with evidence based prescribing practices. Andrew himself, also carries out in-house presentations during our monthly Continuing Medical Education presentations. Over the past 6 years, he has been responsible for ensuring the doctors prescribe medicines safely and accurately. He diligently manages our Pharmacy drugs inventory systems.

Martin Mulubwa
Dip Biomed Sciences
Martin joined Pendleton Family Practice as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in 2014. He graduated from Ndola College of Biomedical Sciences in 2012 and is licensed with the Health Professions Council of Zambia. Prior to joining Pendleton, he worked as a Laboratory Technologist at Mbala General Hospital where he became proficient on various instruments such as MicrosABX, Pentra, Cobas and other chemistry instruments. He is responsible for carrying out a wide range of laboratory tests which include rapid, automated, microscopy and allergy tests. Martin is very skilled at collecting bloods in children.

Ilze Janse Van Rensburg
BTech-Pulmonology
Ilze graduated from the Central University of the Free State, South Africa. She worked at the Groote Schuur Hospital Respiratory Clinic before moving to Lusaka in October 2016. She has also done an Asthma and Allergy course with Cipla. She gained immense experience at various hospitals in Cape Town. At Tygerberg Hospital, she worked in the adult and paediatric/neonatal Intensive Care Units, gaining experience with ventilators, monitors and blood gas machines and performing Lung Function Tests (LFT) in the respiratory clinics. She worked as a Study Co-coordinator at Melomed Private Hospital on Asthma and COPD research studies.
Over the past four years, at Netcare Private and Groote Schuur Hospital Respiratory Clinics she performed different Pulmonary Function Tests (Spirometry, Diffusion Capacity, Body Plethysmography, Methacholine, VO2 max, Stress ECG tests). She also has vast experience in Screening Polysomography (Sleep Studies) and titration (CPAP) studies for patients with Sleep Apnoea. Ilze is passionate about performing LFT’s on patients with different lung diseases helping to achieve accurate diagnosis and subsequently improving their quality of life.

Chrispine Mapani
CA Application Advanced Diploma in Accountancy
Chrispine Mapani joined Pendleton Children’s Clinic in July, 2021. He comes with over 7 Years of experience in Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting, Financial Management, Tax and Business analysis. He holds a Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) Technician qualification, Chartered Accountant (CA) Zambia Application, Certificate in Finance for Non-Finance and Certificate in tax. He is responsible for managing the clinics day to day financial and accounting transactions which includes debtor and creditor management, tax and other statutory compliance issues. He is part of the management team and drives the clinic in the right direction towards its goal of meeting the short and long term financial objectives.

Bridget Chitoka
Bridget joined Pendleton in 2019 whence she has been in her role as Front Office Assistant. She holds a diploma in Secretarial and Office Management and has undergone periodic Basic Life Support training while at Pendleton. She is a hardworking young lady who is empathetic and welcoming, making parents and caregivers feel calm in often stressful situations. Bridget is detail oriented and is a great team player.

Gift Chisembe
Gift started his working career as a Community Teacher at CopKc Mission Academy and then moved to the Coptic Hospital in various departments. He joined Pendleton Children’s Clinic in 2021 as a part time Front Office Assistant. Due to his warm, friendly and hardworking demeanour, he was employed full time in 2022. He is a hardworking team player, optimistic, always ready to learn and motivate himself to push beyond his limits. As the first contact for parents/caregivers and children within the clinic, he is passionate about making all our clients feel welcome in an oVen-fear inducing environment, especially for children. He is an avid footballer and enjoys playing socially in his spare time.

Nancy Tutwa
Bachelor of Business Studies (BBs)
Nancy joined Pendleton Children’s Clinic in October 2022 as a Locum Office Assistant. Due to her warm, friendly and hardworking atitude, she was employed full time as a Front Office Assistant in September 2023. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies which was obtained in 2019 from the Copperbelt University. Prior to joining Pendleton, she worked for Lexmo Solar Supplies for a year as a marketing officer and later joined HomePro Import and Export Company where she served as a Systems Officer for a year. She enjoys interacting with parents, caregivers and children, making their entire experience a Pendleton a warm and friendly environment.

Sandra Nkonga
Certificate in Business Administration
Sandra is a dedicated member of the Pendleton Children’s Clinic team who holds a certificate in Business Administration and a certificate in Basic Life Support. She joined Pendleton as a Front Office Assistant in September, 2011 and rose to Front Office Supervisor then to the current position of Practice Manager. Over the years, she has had immense experience dealing with clients from various walks of life. She is responsible for the effective day to day running of the clinic which includes administration and human resource management. She is part of a dynamic management team that makes decisions that keep in line with the mission and vision of the clinic.
