Pendleton Children's Clinic

Providing Excellence in Child Health

Accessing Our Services

Appointments

As Pendleton is an out-patient children’s clinic, all our services are provided by appointment, ranging between 10–40 minutes. It can sometimes be difficult to see walk-in patients and this often results in prolonged waiting times on your part. Squeezing an extra child into an existing doctor’s appointment is equally not encouraged. This is because examining two children in a single appointment time may result in one or both children not receiving quality attention and may cause prolonged delays on the next patient’s appointment. It is always best to book a separate appointment for each child. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the appointment time, allowing time for form filling and the child’s vitals to be checked by the nurse.

Emergencies

1. Urgent cases
As Pendleton is an out-patient clinic, there are some urgent cases that we can and cannot handle. In cases of an emergency or you feel your child needs urgent medical attention, please call the clinic prior to coming. This is very important because we can then establish whether you can bring the child in immediately, or at a scheduled time or whether you need to urgently go to the nearest hospital emergency room. When you are advised to come in immediately, the most available doctor will see the child.

2. Life Threatening Emergencies
• Call an ambulance service: SES ☎737, 0977770302, 0962740300 (www.seszambia.com); St. Johns Ambulance ☎ Tel: 0211-241823, 0973603393, 0962262283 (www.stjohnzambia.org); Medical Ambulance Rescue Services (MARS) 0977843123, 0977532077, 0950227716
• Go to your nearest hospital emergency room.

Telephone Consultation

Pendleton offers telephone/WhatsApp consultations during and outside normal operating hours for our registered patients. During normal operating hours, due to our paediatricians attentiveness to in-person consultations, non-urgent calls, enquiries regarding test results or follow ups about previous consultations are only answered as time permits between appointments. Often, they can only return calls late in the afternoon when they are done with in-person visits.
